О фильме:

Дзюмпэй Уэки перед выходом на пенсию два года проработал в представительстве своей компании в Гонконге и возвращается в Японию. В порту Иокогамы его встречают жена и дочь, жених дочери — газетный репортер Сётаро Касаи, а также горстка сослуживцев невысокого ранга. Как видно, уход Уэки на пенсию не станет для его фирмы большой потерей. Тем не менее, глава компании на следующий вечер после возвращения Уэки устраивает банкет, и… после его окончания герой банкета исчезает.
