The familiar form of the Halloween pumpkin lends itself to almost endless color variation beyond the classic bright orange - in this class we're going to delve into some of these options, and make sophisticated and sweet versions of this fall fave.
We'll work on the basic form, then I'll nstrate how I synthesize the lessons learned in the process of fast sketching into a full illustration with a soft, retro feel. The finished piece will be great for gifts and special one-off greetings, for printing onto cards and treat bags, and as a backdrop for hand lettering and calligraphy.
I'll nstrate my results with simple, inexpensive and readily available watercolor and drawing materials. Bring your artist paints if you want, but this experience is designed with the casual painter in mind, for maximum fun and ease.
These are my recommended materials, but substitutions are fine and some things can be left out.
140 pound student watercolor paper - in a sketchbook, optionally and/or 9x12 sheet
36 color scholastic watercolor pan set - I like Angora by Talens or Pelikan Transparents, but they're a little pricey, check Arteza or Artist's Loft as alternatives, or use whatever you've got
Faux Sable watercolor brushes by Royal and Langnickel and Creative Mark - #2 #8 rounds and 1/2 inch wash
Brown colored pencils in 2 shades
Supracolor Water Soluble colored pencil by Caran D'ache - a neutral grey/brown color
Graphite, preferably HB or harder, mechanical pencil
Kneaded Eraser
Stabilo Fine Liners in coordinating colors, as an alternative to colored pencils or in addition
Water
Paper Towel
Spray Bottle
Pipette (optional but nice)
Once you complete this class, you'll have a fun pumpkin project, the skills to create more, and a fun way to relax and enjoy the fall!
Use Winrar to Extract. And use a shorter path when extracting, such as C: drive
