" As You Like It is a pastoral comedy by William Shakespeare believed to have been
written in 1599 or early 1600. The play features one of Shakespeare's most famous and oft-quoted speeches, "All the world's a stage", and is the origin of the phrase "too much of a good thing".
My notes
The description above is dry in comparison to the actual experience of the
performance which includes a wrestling match and music composed for the songs contained in the play. Music composition has been done for many Shakespeare productions which contain song but none I've heard match these in style, execution, and wit.
The All The world's a stage speech is best remembered from the play. But on viewing the play now many times I think that Silvius speech in roundelay with the other lovers in Part Two has not been given enough attention.
Jamie Parker plays brother to Olando and will be seen often in these Globe
productions in starring roles. Parker has gone on to star in the Harry Potter live
dramatic production.

This was one of the first Globe shows I saw on disk. It has all the elements
that makes a Globe Theatre production unique: bare stage. minimal lighting effects and audience interaction: as close to what the Globe Theatre calls original practices as productions for dvd have gotten. Only one in the long series is considered "original practices" as I write this: the 2013 Twelfth Night which I will add as this new archive is rebuilt.
Music composition has been done for many Shakespeare productions which contain song and here it is done with style, execution and wit.
