Один из величайших джазовых исполнителей второй половины XX века. Его сценический облик — козлиная бородка, шляпа-котелок и полосатый жилет так же узнаваемы, как и глубокий, богатый, мягкий звук его кларнета и особый, чуть ленивый стиль игры.
