Titolo: 47 Ronin 4K
Dopo che il loro signore e capo è stato costretto a fare harakiri per volontà del truce Lord Kira (Tadanobu Asano), un gruppo di 47 samurai studia un piano per riuscire a vendicarsi e riportare l'onore alla loro casata. Tra di loro, vi è anche Kai (Keanu Reeves), la cui posizione non è chiara ai compagni per via dell'amore che il ronin prova per Mika (Kô Shibasaki), la figlia del maestro deceduto. 
Il problema di questo remake del film "La vendetta dei 47 ronin" (1941) è la confezione, e non intendiamo la scenografia sfarzosa e i costumi un po’ stucchevoli ma sgargianti, quanto la regia “digitale” che saltabecca in una improbabile dimensione fantastica con superficiali ricostruzioni storiche e una narrazione ridotta al grado zero. Non siamo lontani dalle “fiabe” hollywoodiane di ultima generazione (genere "Hansel & Gretel - Cacciatori di streghe"), e anche in questo caso il modello, più che il "chanbara" dei samurai, sono i videogame.
