Frédéric, een mid-twintiger, is recent vrijgelaten en werkt 's nachts bij een hoog aangeschreven hotel in de adembenemende Pyreneeën. Op een nacht ziet hij de hoteleigenaar, Jacques Couvreur, en zijn zoon een beschadigde auto verbergen. Wanneer de politie de dood van een hotelgast onderzoekt, beschermt Frédéric zijn baas die hem beloont met een promotie en hem onder zijn hoede neemt. Hij wordt geraakt door Jacques vaderlijke houding en raakt gefascineerd door zijn familie en levensstijl. Totdat hij er achter komt dat hij er ingeluist wordt en ze de schuld op hem willen afschuiven.
