No caminho, ele é assaltado e assassinado por um bando de foras-da-lei que, de posse da escritura, decidem pegar por si o terreno. Para isso, eles precisam de alguém que finja ser o cavaleiro e acabam encontrando a pessoa perfeita no atrapalhado Brancaleone.
