Действието във филма се развива в интервала между двете световни войни.
В семейство Топалович, състоящо се от пет поколения мъже,
най-младият от които е на 25 години, а най-големият е на 120,
възниква конфликт в резултат на факта, че най-младият член на семейството,
отказва да се занимава със семейния бизнес - да продава ковчези.
Той вярва, че в света има по-достойни и честни професии,
в което го подкрепят неговата приятелка Кристина и най-добрият му приятел Дзенка,
собственик на малко кино. Бащата на Кристина, Били Питън,
който доставя ковчези на семейство Топалович, изисква по-високо заплащане.
