Brilliant, but socially inept, forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperence Brennan works at the Jeffersonian Institute in Washington DC. After consulting for him on a FBI case, she is approached by cocky yet charming Former Army Ranger turned Special Agent, Seeley Booth to help the Bureau solve crimes by identifying human remains that are too far gone for standard FBI forensic investigations. Brennan's empirical, literal view of the world causes friction with Booths emotive, instinctive attitude creating a volatile relationship. However as their case load increases the symbiotic partnership produces results and with the support of Brennan's Squint Squad, murderers, past and present should be on the look out.

Plot:
Temperance Brennan is als forensisch antropologe werkzaam op het Jeffersonian Institute. Samen met haar team van uitermate getalenteerde wetenschappers helpt ze de FBI om moordzaken op te lossen. Niet alleen oude, onopgeloste moordzaken worden opgelost, maar ook recente moordzaken. Tijdens haar werk voor de FBI werkt ze samen met Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz). Tussen de FBI en het Jeffersonian Institute bestaan soms onenigheden, zoals die ook tussen Brennan (en haar team) en Booth bestaan. Maar uiteindelijk lossen de twee partijen de zaken altijd weer op.

Seizoen 7 Aflevering 5: The Twist in the Twister
Het team ontdekt de overblijfselen van een zogenaamde "storm chaser", die lijkt te zijn gestorven tijdens het volgen van een tornado. Maar beeldmateriaal opgenomen tijdens de storm resulteert er uiteindelijk in dat ze denken dat hij was vermoord. Ondertussen Booth is in toenemende mate overbeschermend over Brennan, zowel thuis als in het veld en slaaptekort bij Angela en Hodgins zorgt ervoor dat ze zich neerleggen bij het babysitten van hun zoontje door Angela's vader en rockmuzikant.
