A man slowly walking down a hallway, in one hand a bag of sharp blades, in the other a bucket of ice. A woman tied to a chair, blindfolded and struggling. The man places the bucket on a table in front of the woman. He then lays out an array of knives. He says: 'You are all alone here.' What follows is a hardcore battle of the body and mind. De film speelt zich af in het jaar 2020. Energie-reus Halo is betrokken bij een grootschalig project om olie te zoeken onder het ijs in het poolgebied.
Milieuprofessor Thom Archer waarschuwt echter voor het smelten, c.q. afbreken van het ijs wat catastrofale gevolgen zou kunnen hebben.
Hij reist daarop naar de ijskap waar onomkeerbaar is vast komen te staan dat de energiemaatschappij inmiddels is begonnen met boren.
Daarop spoedt hij zich naar huis om zijn familie in veiligheid te brengen. Een gigantisch stuk ijs breekt los met alle gevolgen van dien.
