Released in 1970 in El Paso, Texas, Wailing Wall is not only interesting for collectors of psychedelic rock, but also a pleasure to listen to fans of American rock of the 70s. Mike Cancellari (guitar), Doug Adams (vocals), Darrell Adams (bass) and David Rutledge (drums) weren't the best musicians and may have lacked something, but they successfully filled their music with feeling and a certain creativity . Cancellari obviously took some of Jimi Hendrix's tricks. While other guitarists at the time were focusing on new sounds and moves, Cancellari was inspired by Soul Blues (the theme of "Meet My Dreams" is taken from Hendrix's "Rainy Day, Dream Away"). Doug Adams couldn't hit some notes, but he has a beautiful deep Soul Blues voice, a cross between Chicago's Robert Lamm and Terry Kath. The vocal harmonies on "Scissor-Tailed Swallow" and the two trombones on "Meet My Dreams" are reminiscent of early "Chicago", but the music on "Wailing Wall" is heavier. Some interesting inserts often make up for the terrible lyrics, especially in the song "Country Of The Goose", which would have been great for 4-5 minutes, but it is stretched for 9. Despite this, the album may be worthy of a larger audience than local music lovers from El Paso.
