10 JUL 2026 - Back up to full speed! Let's be honest: for the last few months, TorrentFunk was painfully slow. Pages crawled, searches dragged, and just loading the site tested everyone's patience. We hunted the problem down to our network and rebuilt it from the ground up — smarter caching, a much bigger and faster connection, and a lot of fine-tuning under the hood. The difference is night and day: the site now loads in a fraction of a second. No more waiting around. Thanks for sticking with us through the slow spell. Now go discover your funk!
TL;DR: I used the Youtube version of Taroman to make a 4:3 version and mixed them with the english sub from Revi-Lark:

Thanks to them, now, everbody can enjoy this hidden tokusatsu gem !

Taroman is a tokusatsu made by NHK. Last year, they made Chōsoku Parahero Ganddeen, a wheelchair hero for the 2020 Olympics, and this year, they made a 10-episode 4-minute miniseries, parody of Ultraman's codes and the hero is inspired by the surrealist artist Okamoto Tarō. And it's absolutely brilliant.
In a "Shōwa"/70s spirit, the series is in 4:3 instead of the usual 16:9. However, the episodes (which were broadcast on the NHK website and Youtube) are in 16:9, with... black borders.
The NHK and Youtube versions are a bit different. The Taroman episodes are the same (of course), but only the NHK version (the one used by Revi-Lark) :
- has a small interview at the end of each episode.
- has a cm for a exhibition between the two mid-episode eyecatches.
The Youtube version was just cut each episode in two-part.
So what I did: Right after the original broadcast on Youtube (the easier way to watch/get it), I took this version and:
- I fuse the two parts together for each episode
- I removed the black borders to have a true 4:3 ratio, without the NHK logo (now, the video resolution is ~1366x1042)
I hadn't shared these raws until now, I was waiting for a "better time" to do so and I finally saw that Revi-Lark has started their translation. So I've wait the last episode release to resync each subs on each episode. I didn't touch up the translation (obviously), just cut the sentences to fit better with 4:3.
However, for obvious reasons, I also had to remove the "opening title" with Okamoto Tarō (3 seconds at the beginning of each episode) and the post-credits interview.
If you want to see the "full" episodes, watch the original version by Revi-Lark instead!
