Trama
Mel Gibson è un uomo senza nome, un astuto criminale che sta fuggengo dalla polizia su un'auto con una borsa piena di soldi, che sfonda il muro di confine contando di sfuggire alla cattura. Però i poliziotti messicani che lo arrestano si tengono il bottino e lo sbattono in una delle più malfamate carceri del mondo, El Pueblito, una specie di cittadella al cui interno tutto è permesso, purchè si paghi e ci si sottometta alle ferree regole dei criminali che spadroneggiano grazie ai corrotti agenti di custodia, mentre ai detenuti comuni resta solo una vita di schiavitù e sofferenze. Un inaspettato aiuto arriva da un ragazzino di dieci anni che nasconde un terribile segreto e che lo aiuterà nell'evasione più incredibile e rocambolesca che sia mai stata vissuta per sfuggire a quell'inferno che è El Pueblito.
