Biography
The Haunted:
Forming from the ashes of At The Gates, melodic death metal band The Haunted has continued in the direction that the previous legendary band was heading in. The band started out aggressive and unrelenting, but has mellowed out a bit lately, while keeping their core sound intact.
Early Days:
When At The Gates dissolved in 1996, three of the five members (the Björler brothers and drummer Adrian Erlandsson) formed a new band, one that basically continued in the same style of Slaughter Of The Soul. To round the band out, the members enlisted guitarist Patrik Jensen and vocalist Peter Dolving.
This lineup recorded their only album together, 1998’s The Haunted. The band would gain a large following touring heavily around the UK, including alongside grindcore legends Napalm Death.
Change On The Horizon:
A year after the release of their debut album, Dolving and Erlandsson would both leave the band. The Haunted continued on, finding Aro and Jensen for vocals and drums, respectively. The first album from this new line-up was 2000’s The Haunted Made Me Do It.
The band toured around the world behind it, even releasing a live album, Live Rounds In Tokyo in 2001. During this time, Anders Björler would briefly leave the band, but come back less than a year later. In 2003, The Haunted’s third album One Kill Wonder was released.
Aro Departs:
In late 2003, vocalist Marco Aro would suddenly leave the band, opening up an opportunity for original vocalist Dolving to return. That is exactly what happened, and 2004’s rEVOLVEr was his first recorded effort back with The Haunted. This album, along with 2006’s The Dead Eye, showcased an experimental side of the band.
Current Day:
The band toured heavily behind The Dead Eye, before going back in the studio to work on their sixth studio album, Versus, which came out in the fall of 2008. Peter Dolving remains a controversial figure, with his blogs and candid interviews constantly ruffling feathers.

Recommended The Haunted CD:
The Haunted
Seemingly continuing in the direction At The Gates’ last album Slaughter Of The Soul, the band’s self-titled debut album was a barrage of riffs and pummeling drum work. The songwriting is quick and frantic, with no room for a moment to slow down. A harsh sounding yet catchy affair, The Haunted pulled no punches and got by on sheer adrenaline and attitude alone.
