die vrijwillig in de loopgraven van de Eerste Wereldoorlog vocht. Vanuit
die loopgraven schreef Arthur brieven naar huis. Brieven vol met zijn
emoties, verhalen van de strijd en de tijdgeest. Arthur was een jongeman
die dacht dat de oorlog avontuurlijk zou zijn. Hij was verliefd op Parijs
en op zijn Franse vriendin. Arthur was een echt familiedier en vond het zijn
plicht om te vechten voor zijn geliefde Frankrijk. Verbolgen was hij over
het feit dat Nederland afzijdig bleef.
