Summary



    "A live performance of the tragedy "Titus Andronicus" by William

Shakespeare. Set in Roman times, the play deals with the bloody revenge of

Roman general Titus Andronicus for the atrocities committed against his

family by Tamora, the captive queen of the Goths, and her faction."



My notes



 This Titus should encourage libraries and individuals to acquire all in the series in their original and annotated DVD form.  This recode is from the DVD source.



  I've seen the Ambrose/BBC Titus and the Julie Taymor film of the play as well.   NTLive has done a Titus recently.   But perhaps of most interest is the revival of the Grand Guinol (Big Puppet) theatre style.  Unlike the name implies it was the most extreme form of stage display of violence and gore in modern times.  And it is referenced in the current dramatic television series "Penny Dreadful" (season one.)   Another television note is that Indira Varma appears as Tamora whom some will recognize from the HBO series "Rome" of a few years ago and more recently in NTLive "Man and Superman."



  To give away more would spoil the experience but you will find that the live audience reactions to the play are, in my viewing, unique.



  As of this writing it is a particularly rich period for streaming access to the live theatre videos of RSC NTLive and the Globe.  These fileshare torrents are for a more permanent repository.
