Architect Vincent Eastman is al zestien jaar gehuwd met Sally, aan wie hij voor een deel zijn succes te danken heeft.
Het privé-leven van het paar stelt niet veel meer voor: in de loop der jaren is Vincent de koele perfectie van zijn echtgenote gaan haten.
Wanneer Vincent de knappe journaliste Olivia ontmoet, valt hij onmiddellijk voor haar charmes.
Maar Vincent heeft het voorgevoel dat Olivia niet tevreden is met een avontuurtje.
